The Light Shines Only There DVD English Subtitled

Two fractured souls trapped in dire lives find a glimmer of hope in each other in The Light Shines Only There, a critically acclaimed romantic drama by director Oh Mipo (Sakaike no Shiawase). Based on a novel by the late Sato Yasushi (Sketches of Kaitan City), the film won the Best Director prize at the World Film Festival in Montreal and is Japan's representative at the 2015 Academy Awards' Best Foreign Film competition.
Ayano Go (The Snow White Murder Case) stars as Tatsuo, an unemployed young man who spends his days in pachinko parlors and wandering around the city of Hakodate. After becoming friends with Takuji at the pachinko parlor, Tatsuo meets Takuji's older sister Chinatsu (Ikewaki Chizuru), who lives carrying the burden of her deadbeat brother and senile father. Tatsuo and Chinatsu eventually fall in love, but that love isn't enough to make them forget about their troubles in their respective lives.
